Top 5 Misconceptions about Cloth Diapering
1.You will always be doing laundry.
It’s not that much extra. Washing cloth diapers is simply running an additional load of laundry every three days or so. Super easy.
2. Cloth Diapers are expensive.
Take a quick look at this comparison-
→ Disposables and Accessories – based on 7200 diaper changes for 3 years = $3300.00
→ Cloth Diapers and Accessories – based on 7200 diaper changes for 3 years = $400 - $1000.00 (depending on type of diapers used)
3. Cloth Diapers are inconvenient.
Not true. You don’t have to go to the store every time you run out of diapers. You don’t need to look for the best deals or cut coupons with cloth diapers. You don’t need to walk out to the dumpster with an additional bag of garbage either.
4. Cloth diapers cannot be used ‘out and about’.
Sure they can! All you need is a travel size wet bag for your diaper bag and place the used diapers inside. When you get home simply dump the diapers in your diaper pail like you normally would.
5. Cloth diapers are messy!
Not at all a messy scene. When baby is younger, their ‘solids’ are washed away by the washing machine, so there is no worry or having to dunk you diapers in a toilet bowl! When baby is older, ‘solids’ are well, more solid! All I do is shake into the toilet, flush, and throw the diaper into the diaper bucket.
